Weathering

Sending the word out to the world that I've weathered Hurricane Sandy and am safe, sound, warm and dry. And amazingly, our home hasn't lost power through this yet.  A large tree went down in our back yard, but missed the house.  I spent the brunt of the storm with friends, tucking down a delicious roast beef dinner and rice crispy treats, watching movies and the news.
Feeling extra grateful and sending love and prayers to those who were affected and to those helping them.

Reflection

The Great Adirondacks Autumn Adventure

'Winning' our cabin
Way back in March my friends and I 'won' a house in the Adirondacks during a fundraiser for a fantastic organization, Solar Youth. We spent the next several months scheming and dreaming about our magical autumn get away in the mountains.  And despite the unfortunate addition to a bunch of small and fury bonus-guests, it lived up to every hope and dream.

Philly with Eben!

My wonderful friend Eben and I have developed a bit of a tradition of having a fall adventure together to explore a new place.  This year, we met up in Philadelphia, a city neither of us had been to before.  We stayed at a semi-sketchy hostel, ate roughly every two hours, talked politics, and caught up on each other's lives.  It was amazing!
Our first night at an Afghani restaurant
Learning about William Penn and the founding of Philadelphia
The Liberty Bell!
Live crabs at the Italian market
Everywhere is fun with this guy.
Gross.  We wanted to try one of their philly cheesesteaks, but we had boycott after seeing this sign.
So instead we went to get our Chessesteaks at Pat's!
The chessesteak in all of its glory.
Peppers!

And what is the logical thing to do after chessesteaks?!  Go and see the Dead Sea Scrolls!

:)
Yet another fabulous adventure with a fabulous friend.  Feeling blessed.
